Clock Function

  • Warm-up: 5 minutes
  • 1st half:  20 minutes
    • Clock stops only for timeouts (runs during free throws & out-of-bounds)
  • Half-time:  3 minutes
    • Set for 3 minutes to let teams grab water or practice shooting.
  • 2nd half:  20 minutes
    • Clock stops only for timeouts during first 18 minutes, same as 1st half
    • Last 2 minutes of the game, clock stops during all dead balls (timeout, basket, out-of-bounds).

Timeouts/Fouls

  • Each team has 2 timeouts per half.  45 seconds each.
  • Coaches will ask you for foul #Ã??Ã?¢??s or timeouts left throughout game.
    • You can volunteer this information during breaks, halftime, etc.
    • If you are being harassed by a player/coach, hit the buzzer/horn and call over a ref.

Scorekeeping

  • Home team on left of scorekeeping desk, Visitor team on right (same as clock buttons).
  • Mark player scores & fouls at the same time as team scores & fouls.
    • Total these up at half-time and the end of game.
    • Alert refs when a player fouls out. 
    • Alert refs when a team reaches 6 or 9 fouls (Bonus/Double-Bonus play) for free throws
  • At the end of the games, return score sheets to Scorekeeping Coordinator.

Ball Possession

  • First tip counts as initial possession. Move arrow to opposing team.
  • Alternate arrow on jump balls throughout game for refs to see.

Substitutions

  • Catch the refs attention to request substitutions (or hit the buzzer/horn)
  • Substitutions are only allowed when a ref calls them in.
    • Happens during dead ball or after a free throw.
